Coming up with a Father's Day gift beyond socks or a tie is never easy. This year, when venues and many retail stores were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was likely even more challenging to find something special.

But Kristen Bell managed to execute the perfect gift for her husband, Dax Shepard — one that will keep the father of two happily occupied without even leaving the house. The "Veronica Mars" actress shared on Instagram on Sunday that she transformed the family's backyard into an RC track.

RC racing, which stands for "remote-controlled" or "radio controlled" racing, is when players race miniature model cars from a distance.

Dax Shepard spent time perfecting his RC racing skills while home during the pandemic

Shepard has long been a car fanatic and worked on his RC racing skills while the family was home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The "Chips" star raced his vehicles on dirt terrain from the comfort of a La-Z-Boy. To add a level of authenticity, the track was even lined with race flags and balloons.

"We hope transforming your backyard into an RC race track made you as happy as you make us every single day," Bell wrote in her Instagram post. "We are forever your race fans, your pit crew, and your cheering section."

Shepard, who grew up in the metro Detroit area, and worked for General Motors for 14 years, has said that cars were always a part of his life.

"I can't actually remember a moment in life when I wasn't into cars," he told Motor Trend in 2017. "I don't think there was a specific thing. I just immediately loved them."
