'Subway diet' spokesman Jared Fogle is reportedly a suspect in a child porn investigation

Longtime Subway spokesman Jared Fogle is allegedly a suspect in a child pornography investigation, CBS News reports, citing an unnamed law enforcement official.

News of an investigation into Fogle broke yesterday, but this is the first report saying he's a suspect.

FBI special agent Wendy Osborne confirmed the existence of an investigation to Business Insider but declined to comment on its nature and whether it was related to a child porn case. The FBI conducted an 11-hour raid of Fogle's Zionsville, Indiana home on Tuesday, seizing electronics, documents, and other items. Fogle has not been arrested or charged with any crimes, according to his lawyer, Ron Elberger."Jared has been cooperating, and continues to cooperate, with law enforcement in their investigation of unspecified charges, and looks forward to its conclusion," Elberger said in a statement. Several hours after news of the probe broke, Subway announced that it would be suspending its relationship with Fogle, who has been a spokesman for the company for 15 years.

The company said the decision was mutual.

"Both Jared and Subway agree that this was the appropriate step to take," the company said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Subway released a statement saying it was "shocked" by the news and believed it was related to an investigation of a former employee of the Jared Foundation, which Fogle started to help kids improve their eating and exercise habits.

The statement was likely in reference to Russell Taylor, the Jared Foundation's former director, who was arrested two months ago on federal child pornography charges.

The FBI raided Taylor's home on April 29 and found hundreds of videos of child pornography, some of which were recorded in his home, according to court documents reviewed by Business Insider.

We reached out to Fogle's attorney and will update this post if we hear back.
