The Apple Watch Series 7 launch may yet be a few months away, but reports about the features of the next-gen wearable from Apple are already pouring in. Two new reports suggest that Apple could go for a larger battery in its seventh-gen Watch instead of adding new sensors.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple will continue to focus on the battery life of its Watch – since the launch of the Apple Watch in 2015, the Cupertino-based company has touted 18-hour battery life as one of the core selling points of the wearable.

This remains true in 2021 as well, and it seems Apple intends to keep it this way with its seventh-gen Watch, too.

This is backed by another report from Economic Daily News, a Chinese publication, which refers to its supply chain sources.

The reports suggest that the company believes it can get older Apple Watch owners to buy its upcoming release due to the improved battery life.

According to the Bloomberg report, Apple could add blood sugar and body temperature sensors in the 2022 model instead. It goes on to add that the Watch Series 7 could sport thinner bezels and an updated display that’s much closer to the cover than before.

The iPhone-maker is said to improve ultra-wideband support, perhaps to complement the AirTags tracker.

Apple Watch Series 7 to be powered by the new Apple S7 chip

The upcoming Apple Watch is said to be powered by the new Apple S7 chip. It will come with a new dual-sided System-in-a-package (SIP) design that leaves Apple with more room. This, the report says, will be used to beef up the battery, allowing the company to maintain the current size of the watch.

Apart from this, the report suggests that a minor change in design and new colour options could also be in the offing.
