OnePlus Nord Buds May Do For TWS What it Did For Smartphones

Not so long ago, in 2020, OnePlus’ sneaky Instagram campaign ushered in a new era for the brand. Targeting the youth, the OnePlus Nord launched bringing new meaning to the mid-range segment, offering a familiar flagship experience but at a much more affordable price. It set a precedent of sorts for other smartphones in that segment, spurring competition and forging a new identity for the company. Now, what it did with mid-range phones, OnePlus wants to do to the audio category, particularly the TWS segment.

Yes, the OnePlus Nord Buds are coming! The brand new TWS earbuds are set to be revealed at the “More Power To You” launch event on April 28, 2022, along with the OnePlus 10R 5G and the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G.

Operating under the “Pretty Much Everything You Need” ethos of the Nord brand name, the OnePlus Nord Buds will build on the success and extensive reach of the OnePlus Buds Pro and the Buds Z2. Its primary objective will be to make the OnePlus audio experience more accessible, much like what it did with the OnePlus Nord smartphone lineup.

But do you realize what this means? The OnePlus Nord branding is not just for smartphones. Now, when you will be buying a OnePlus Nord smartphone, you will also be entering an exclusive, robust ecosystem, starting with the TWS earbuds. And needless to say, the ecosystem will centre around the brand’s promise of offering trustworthy, cost-efficient and playful experiences to the OnePlus community. The OnePlus Nord Buds could just be the beginning of more such accessories.

Now, we don’t just know the launch date. OnePlus has also given us a glimpse of what the OnePlus Nord Buds will look like. The company shared the product images on its India website, and it sure does look appealing. The short stem, what seems to be a matte finish, and a boxy case gives it that signature practical touch.

Aside from the funky design, we know the Nord Buds will come in Black and White colourways and is expected to be sweatproof with an IP55 rating. It will also reportedly feature fast charging and environmental noise cancellation (ENC), and support AAC and SBC codecs.

As for the price, we don’t know for sure, but considering it’s part of the Nord ecosystem, it’s likely to be priced affordably, undercutting rivals. Considering the rumours doing the rounds, and the stellar foundation of the Nord brand, the hype is real. Mark the date! The OnePlus Nord Buds launch on April 28.
