AI chatbots are seemingly everywhere — and now they might be coming to Instagram.

The social platform appears to be working on an AI chatbot that can answer questions, give advice, and help write messages, according to a tweet from mobile-developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often reverse engineers Instagram's code to predict what's next for the platform.

Users will be able to choose between 30 different personalities for the AI agents, Paluzzi says. His post indicates that it could offer creative solutions to "find the best way to express yourself."

Instagram did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment regarding the chatbot.

In February, Snapchat started to roll out its own ChatGPT-powered chatbot, dubbed My AI, to less-than-favorable reviews. The chatbot can write haikus, plan trips, and recommend birthday gifts, the company said.

Some users complained that My AI disrupted Snapchat's user experience, while others complained the chatbot had access to a concerning amount of data — including about their locations.

Meta previously announced that it was planning to experiment with AI on Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. In Februrary, Zuckerberg said the company's long-term goal was to create "AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways." On Instagram, he said the company was working on AI to optimize filters and ads.

Meta has also been using AI tools to help boost its ad business. Advantage+, one of these tools, finds audiences and automatically places ads across Meta's platforms. The company is developing a way for advertisers to create and test ads using AI.
