Microsoft Teams is back online after an outage that affected people worldwide

  • Reports of outages on Microsoft Teams started around 6 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday morning.
  • The company confirmed it was a global outage, though not all users were affected.
  • At 9 a.m., the company said the service was back online.

Microsoft Teams is back online after an outage that affected users around the world on Tuesday morning.

"We've monitored the environment and confirmed that the service is performing as expected. If a user is still experiencing impact, they need to restart their clients to recover," the company said in a Tweet at 9:03 a.m. Eastern Time.

According to website Down Detector, users started reporting problems around 6 a.m. ET.

"We've confirmed that this issue affects users globally. We're reviewing monitoring telemetry and recent changes to isolate the source of the issue," Microsoft said in an earlier statement, after initially saying the problem affected Europe and Asia.

The outage did not appear to affect all users.

This is the second time this month Teams has suffered a major outage. On April 1, a suite of Microsoft products including Teams, Azure, and Bing went down.
