Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a non-contact injury on Thursday and is undergoing an MRI amid fears that he tore his ACL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The injury would be a brutal blow for the Texans, who have been lifted by Watson's play through eight weeks.

Watson took over the team in the second half of Week 1, and after a slow start in Week 2, has been one of the NFL's most exciting and promising rookies. Watson is tied with Carson Wentz for most touchdowns this season, completing 61.8% of his passes with a 103 passer rating. He has also added 269 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Watson had his best game yet in Week 8 as he dueled with Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson threw for 402 yards with four touchdowns, a performance so awe-inspiring that Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman later said it was the best quarterback performance the Seahawks defense has ever seen.
