The Legatum Institute has compiled a business environment index as part of its new UK prosperity index.

The ranking considers a variety of measures, including entrepreneurial activity, infrastructure, business survival rates, and broadband speed, in order to draw up a list of the most favourable areas to do business.

It is a very uncertain time for UK business at the moment. Many firms have voiced their concerns about a post-Brexit future, fearing that a falling pound could spell trouble, and fearing investment will fall once we leave the European Union.

There are some reasons for optimism, however. Business confidence has bounced back since falling after the vote to leave the EU, and many parts of the UK are emerging as innovative business hubs, attracting startups and entrepreneurs from around the world.
