Cleveland Indians gifted two free runs to the Chicago Cubs and the route was on. The Cubs beat the Indians 9-3 in Game 6 on Tuesday night, forcing a winner-take-all Game 7 in Cleveland on Wednesday night. The big blows came in the first inning, before the Indians ever got a chance to bat. Kris Bryant homered with two outs to make it 1-0. But then, after a pair of singles, it looked like Josh Tomlin was going to get out of the jam. Instead, the bloop to right field by Addison Russell fell to the ground as the two outfielders both thought the other was going to catch it. Two runs scored on the play and the floodgates were opened.

Addison Russell's grand slam sealed both team's Game 7 fate The Indians gave up three runs in the first inning but were still very much alive in the game. That is, until Russell came up again, this time with the bases loaded in the third inning. Russell became the second-youngest player to ever hit a grand slam in a World Series game, and all of a sudden it was 7-0 and it was game over.

Joe Maddon leaned on Aroldis Chapman and he nearly got hurt. The Indians were down 7-2 in the seventh inning and managed to get a couple of runs and still had two runners on base. Rather than mess with a good thing, Maddon turned to Chapman even though the game seemed over. Chapman got out of the seventh-inning jam, covering first on a ground ball to Anthony Rizzo. But the play was initially ruled safe and Chapman came up limping. Luckily for the Cubs, the call was overturned on replay and Chapman turned out to be fine. However, he did throw 20 pitches on the eve of Game 7 when he might not have been needed.
