Cyclist Laura Trott holds the most gold medals out of any female British Olympian ever after leading her team to victory in the women's team pursuit on August 13.
Trott, who is also on track to win the women's omnium on Tuesday, owes the start of her cycling career to her mother, Glenda Trott.
Here's an anecdote Trott shared with the Sun in 2012:
"Twelve years ago we went on holiday to America but my mum couldn't go on some rides because she was too heavy.
After we came back a friend recommended she go to the Welwyn Wheelers cycle club to lose weight.
Mum lost 8½st [110 pounds] in 18 months and from the first day she took me and my sister
Emma along we were hardly off our bikes."
Laura's older sister, Emma, is also a professional cyclist but retired in 2014.
Trott, who is now 24, won a gold medal in the women's team pursuit and the women's omnium during the 2012 Olympics. She was just 20.
