JetBlue just announced 24 new routes as demand continues to shift to leisure travel – here's the full list

• JetBlue is expanding in secondary markets across the country to capture more leisure flyers as business travel shows little signs of recovery.
• New Jersey, California, Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina will see the greatest number of new routes, with a focus on international destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America where Americans are still allowed to go.
• Routes with Mint business class are also being expanded in Los Angeles and Newark.

JetBlue Airways is adding 24 new routes to its network that will see more flying to secondary markets while growing the airline's domestic presence.

Most routes see JetBlue expand in non-hub locations on both coasts as travel demand shifts to leisure travel, a market segment with which the airline already excels in capturing. Four markets will see the most growth including Newark; Los Angeles; Richmond, Virginia; and Raleigh, North Carolina, all of which are focus or secondary cities for the airline and not traditional hubs.

International routes to Latin American and Caribbean countries that are accepting US citizens make up the bulk of the expansion – a new trend among US airlines – as Americans yearn for cross-border travel. Domestic routes are also geared to sun destinations with few quarantine restrictions and where social distancing is more easily achieved are favored.

The Airbus A320 aircraft will be used for most routes as the workhorse of JetBlue's fleet, with the airline in the process of updating the in-flight entertainment system of that aircraft type. Newark and Los Angeles will also see more routes with JetBlue's Airbus A321 aircraft featuring Mint business class.

JetBlue hasn't yet joined the growing list of airlines to eliminate change fees but is extending its travel protection program that waives change and cancelation fees. New bookings made until February 28, 2021, will now be covered with free changes.

Here's where JetBlue is flying this winter.

1. Between Newark and Oranjestad, Aruba

JetBlue will launch once-daily service beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Oranjestad route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. Mint business class will be offered on select flights using the Airbus A321 with JetBlue competing with United Airlines on the route.

2. Between Newark and Cancun, Mexico

JetBlue will launch twice-daily service between Newark and Cancun beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Cancun route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. Cancun is a popular destination from Newark with JetBlue competing with United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Mexico's VivaAerobus.

3. Between Newark and Montego Bay, Jamaica

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Newark and Montego Bay beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Montego Bay route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. United Airlines will be JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

4. Between Newark and Nassau, Bahamas

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Newark and Nassau beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Nassau route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. United Airlines will be JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

5. Between Newark and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Newark and Providenciales beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Providenciales route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. United Airlines will be JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

6. Between Newark and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Newark and Punta Cana beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Punta Cana route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. United Airlines will be JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

7. Between Newark and Sint Maarten

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Newark and Sint Maarten beginning November 19, complementing its existing New York-Sint Maarten route utilizing John F. Kennedy International Airport. Mint business class will be offered on select flights using the Airbus A321 with United Airlines being JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

8. Between Los Angeles and Charleston, South Carolina

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Los Angeles and Charleston beginning December 18, offering the only non-stop service between California and South Carolina.

9. Between Los Angeles and Cancun, Mexico

JetBlue will launch twice-daily service between Los Angeles and Cancun beginning November 19. The route will see JetBlue compete with four airlines including United Airlines and Delta Air Lines, as well as Mexico's Interjet and Volaris.

10. Between Los Angeles and Liberia, Costa Rica

JetBlue will launch twice-weekly service between Los Angeles and Liberia beginning December 18, competing with Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines. The airline hasn't announced which days of the week the route will be served but Mint business class will be offered on select flights using the Airbus A321.

11. Between Los Angeles and West Palm Beach, Florida

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Los Angeles and West Palm Beach beginning November 19 as the sole carrier on the route. Mint business class will be offered on select flights using the Airbus A321.

12. Between Los Angeles and Raleigh, North Carolina

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Los Angeles and Raleigh beginning December 18. The route will see JetBlue competing with American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, both of which maintain a strong presence in Raleigh.

13. Between Los Angeles and Richmond, Virginia

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Los Angeles and Richmond beginning December 18 as the sole connection between the two cities.

14. Between Los Angeles and San Jose, Costa Rica

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Los Angeles and San Jose beginning December 18. The route will see JetBlue go up against Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Volaris Costa Rica.

15. Between Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Bozeman, Montana

JetBlue will launch twice-weekly service between Fort Lauderdale and Bozeman beginning December 18, the first between Florida and Montana. Big Sky Country has seen an increase in popularity as travelers seek out social distancing-friendly vacations in the great outdoors that Montana has to offer.

16. Between Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Palm Springs, California

JetBlue will launch twice-weekly service between Fort Lauderdale and Palm Springs beginning December 18. Fort Lauderdale is JetBlue's third East Coast city to receive service to California's Inland Empire following New York and Boston, also receiving seasonal service to Palm Springs.

17. Between Tampa, Florida and Cancun, Mexico

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Tampa and Cancun beginning November 19. The route will compete with Delta Air Lines' seasonal service if the carrier chooses to operate flights between the two cities this year.

18. Between Tampa, Florida and Richmond, Virginia

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Tampa and Richmond beginning November 19. The route will compete with Southwest Airlines' seasonal service if the carrier chooses to operate flights between the two cities this year.

19. Between Raleigh, North Carolina, and San Juan, Puerto Rico

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Raleigh and San Juan beginning November 19 with ultra-low-cost Frontier Airlines as its sole competitor.

20. Between Raleigh, North Carolina and Fort Myers, Florida

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Raleigh and Fort Myers beginning November 19. The route will see JetBlue as the sole carrier operating flights.

21. Between Raleigh, North Carolina and Cancun, Mexico

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Raleigh and Cancun beginning November 19. The route will see JetBlue compete with Delta Air Lines and American Airlines' recently announced service between the two cities.

22. Between Raleigh, North Carolina and Montego Bay, Jamaica

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Raleigh and Montego Bay beginning November 19. The route will see JetBlue as the sole carrier operating flights, taking over for Frontier Airlines which operated flights until April 2019.

23. Between San Francisco and Cancun, Mexico

JetBlue will launch twice-daily service between San Francisco and Cancun beginning November 19. United Airlines will be JetBlue's sole competitor on the route.

24. Between Las Vegas and Richmond, Virginia

JetBlue will launch once-daily service between Las Vegas and Richmond beginning December 18. The route will see JetBlue as the sole carrier operating flights.
