Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted India’s freedom fighters in today’s Independence Day speech in New Delhi. He observed that there is no place for communalism or casteism in modern India. He insisted 'Jan Bhagidari' is the biggest asset of our governance model, pointing at MyGov, Mann Ki Baat and other such methods of communication with citizens.

Modi also declared that 17 crore people have opened bank accounts under his Jan Dhan Yojna, 4.25 lakh toilets were built in 2.62 lakh schools nationwide in one year and that 20 lakh Indians have given up LPG subsidy. He also announced that the Coal auction would get Rs 3 lakh crores for India.

Modi also touched upon Shrameva Jayate Yojana and said that dignity of labour must be our motto. He also waged war on corruption, disclosing that the CBI has registered a whopping 1800 corruption cases after he became Prime Minister.
