This obscure organic burger chain should make Shake Shack, Five Guys, and Smashburger nervous
Hollis Johnson
Elevation Burger started in Arlington, VA in 2005 and has now spread to 10 states nationwide and Washington, DC.
The company also has an impressive presence in the Middle East and Mexico.
The restaurant's founding partner and VP of supply chain Michael Berger has recently received the 2015 Rising Star award from the Organic Trade Association, an association for organic agriculture and trade in North America.
Elevation Burger's organic beef supply program has become the largest such program for any restaurant group in the US.
It also has one of the largest organic beef programs of any retailer in the country, with Berger successfully developing their organic chicken supply as well.
With organic food trends growing steadily, it's no surprise that Elevation Burger and its ethos have enjoyed such national success. I visited one of their 34 US locations to see if their environmentally-conscious burgers are as good as they sound.
