- President Donald Trump says he was "forced" to watch CNN in the Philippines.
- Trump did have some extra time in the Philippines as meetings ran late and he left the trip earlier than expected.
President Donald Trump complained on Wednesday that he was "forced" to watch CNN during a trip to the Philippines, despite having stated that he doesn't watch the network.
"While in the Philippines I was forced to watch @CNN, which I have not done in months, and again realized how bad, and FAKE, it is. Loser!" Trump tweeted.
A review of Trump' schedule in the Philippines shows he had some spare time.
Trump unexpectedly left the East Asia Summit in Manila after lunch because meetings were running late. He left behind Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to speak on his behalf.
While Trump was in the Philippines, CNN's coverage largely centered around new revelations in the investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia.
On Tuesday, when Trump was in Manila, his attorney general repeatedly defended himself against allegations that he had lied to the House Judiciary Committee about his knowledge of the Trump campaign's plans to make contact with Russia during the election.
Trump reportedly hates bad coverage of himself on TV, and sometimes yells at the screen during negative coverage. He consistently calls major media networks "fake news" and challenges their credibility.
