Stormy Daniels has been booked and released from jail after her lawyer said she was arrested while performing at a strip club.

The porn star, whose real name is Stephanie Cliffords, was arrested in Columbus, Ohio, for allowing a customer to touch her during her performance, her lawyer Michael Avenatti said on Thursday.

A video, posted by the Associated Press, showed two law-enforcement officers escorting her from behind a police van into a jail in the city. Daniels, dressed in a black top and trousers, has her hands cuffed behind her back and head down throughout.

After being taken to jail, Daniels posted a $6,054 bail and was later released, CNN reported, citing court documents.

Under Ohio law, anyone who is not a family member is prohibited from touching a nude or semi-nude dancer and their clothes anywhere at the club, including the parking lot, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Avenatti described the charges against his client as "bogus" and that the arrest "reeks of desperation."

"Are you kidding me?," Avenatti tweeted on Thursday. "They are devoting law enforcement resources to sting operations for this? There has to be higher priorities!!!"

Avenatti is representing Daniels in a civil litigation case against Donald Trump and his longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

Cohen facilitated a $130,00 payment to Daniels, weeks before the 2016 election, to keep quiet about an affair she says she had with Trump in 2006. Daniels wants to be freed from her nondisclosure agreement.
