Calling on landline numbers from WhatsApp and Viber may soon be a reality

An inter-ministerial panel of the government has arranged for inter-connect agreements between internet service providers and telecom operators, which if get approved, would allow users of popular internet apps such as Skype, WhatsApp or Viber to call on landline numbers.
Even though this would result in substantially lower charges for voice calls, the persistent problem of poor internet connection would remain an issue.
