Amazon has opened India's biggest fulfilment centre in Sonipat

Amazon India, the e-commerce major headquartered in Seattle, US, has started a new fulfilment centre in Sonipat, around 50 kms from country’s capital New Delhi. With this new fulfilment centre, the e-tailer will be able to fulfil orders from Delhi and Haryana’s surrounding areas within 24 hours, as told to ET by Akhil Saxena, VP, customer fulfilment centres.

Amongst 22 fulfilment centres in 10 Indian states of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal, this one is the largest, being spread across about 200,000 sq ft.
It was earlier this month that Amazon had announced its plans to expand its infrastructure by adding six more fulfilment centres, so that it can be better prepared for the upcoming festive season. These new centres will make Amazon’s operational storage area to 2.5 million sq ft.
