Here comes the Baker Hughes rig count ...
Oil driller Baker Hughes will release its weekly count of US oil and gas rigs at the top of the hour.
In the last few weeks, we've seen something of a comeback in the tally relative to its recent trend. The oil rig count rose last week for a third straight period - the longest streak since August 2015 - by 9 to 337. The gas rig count rose by 1, and the combined tally climbed 10 to 424.
Some producers brought rigs back online as crude oil rallied and crossed $50 per barrel.
On Friday, crude oil was getting clobbered with the rest of global financial markets following Britain's unexpected vote to leave the European Union. West Texas Intermediate crude futures in New York fell 4.7% to $47.73 ahead of the rig-count data.
