From the New York Fed, this chart shows economic activity in New York State, New York City, and New Jersey. And since the financial crisis, New Jersey has been a serious laggard with activity still below where it was ahead of the recession.
As of February, New Jersey had an unemployment rate of 6.2%, above the national rate of 5.5% and ranking 42 out of 50 states.
