The photos garnered attention on social media Thursday night due to Comey's role in the FBI's investigation of Russia's interference in the US election. They also came on the same day President Donald Trump admitted that he has no recordings of his interactions with Comey, more than a month after he insinuated as much.
Haberman said Comey did not visit The Times' newsroom.
The reporter also tweeted photos of Comey she said were from the event:
Comey later left the event in a cab, the Daily Mail reported.
