Getting a foot on the property ladder has always been difficult, but it seems to be getting even harder.

Research shows that the average UK house now costs eight times the average national wage.
The research, carried out by online money-saving agent eMoov, shows that London is still the most unaffordable area to buy a house, but other parts of the UK make the list too.
Business Insider has compiled a list of the areas where it is most expensive to buy a house around the UK. The data was collected for each London borough and each area across England, Scotland and Wales in order to calculate the most expensive places for property compared to the average wage earned in that area.
