With globalisation, one might think that humanity is on the move, however, according to the latest estimates by the United Nations, only 3.3% of the world's population (244 million people to be precise) doesn’t live in the where they were born.Moreover, these people are concentrated in only 20 countries, out of which the United States was the most popular destination, followed by Germany, Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The UN report does not distinguish between people who migrates legally and those who don’t, which is why, Saudi Arabia shows up as it hosts an enormous number of migrant workers, unlike the US, which features on the list because of
Indians, however, make up the largest diaspora, as there are 16 million Indians scattered across the world, given the country's demographic size (1.2 billion) and youth (median age is around 26).
The effect that it has on the economy can be enormous, as migrants send home remittances, which in some countries exceeds what their governments take in traditional donor aid.

These migrants are mostly young, belonging to the working age, and are a boon to countries like those in Europe where the native population is rapidly aging.
After India, Mexico has the second largest diaspora, with 12 million native Mexicans living in foreign lands, especially in the US.
