A Japanese research team has discovered a hitherto unknown species of fish living at a record-breaking depth. JAMSTEC, in cooperation with NHK, discovered the fish during an unmanned deep sea dive in the Mariana Trench. Scientists think that if the fish were to venture just a few dozen feet deeper, its cells would collapse from the incredible water pressure.
