Uber, Paytm and Alipay announced a partnership today to allow Indian travelers to request and pay for “We’ll let Indians travel globally and continue to pay using our Wallet as a payment option. They need not be bothered about foreign currency or payment systems. That’s the beauty of it”, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder-CEO, Paytm said.
Alipay and Paytm’s combined user-base is over 600 million, with Paytm contributing around 130 million. With over 150 million Chinese and approx 50 million Indians travelling abroad every year, this deal is important for both Alipay and Paytm in their efforts to go global.
The API integration is currently underway, and would be done by the end of the month. That means you can expect to book an Uber Black on your next trip to the US.
