E-commerce firms like Flipkart, PepperTap have tied up with point-of-sale payment solutions provider, Pine Labs , for real-time update of money collected in cash-on-delivery transactions.
Pine Labs is also doing a pilot with Grofers, the firm's Asia Pacific president Kush Mehra told Economic Times.
Pine Labs' point-of-sale machines mirror money collected in cash-on-delivery (CoD) transactions on the company's system, reducing chances of under reporting by delivery staff.
This will give e-Commerce firms information on cash generated through CoD transactions.
"With our PoS machines, ecommerce companies can also convert cash-on-delivery transactions to card-on-delivery transactions which will help in time and cost of handling cash," Mehra told ET.
