India’s largest online and mobile classifieds portal Quikr has rolled out an instant messaging service, which can be used on both the desktop and mobile, with an aim to bring buyers and sellers together on its online platform, as per an Economic Times report.

The latest launch suggests that the website wants to stay at the centre of the deals that were earlier closed offline.

Earlier, the Mumbai-based portal enabled users to check the products online and strike the deals by sending an email or making a call. The chat service will help Quikr provide better value to small businessmen, who shell-out money for listings, the report added.

According to Pranay Chulet, CEO and founder of Quikr, "This will help us in monetising. Now a small business owner, who buys a package of listings, can see the value and have a record of the deals struck through us."

Since December, 2014, the newly launched service was tested in 10 Indian cities. It has also increased the pace at which these deals take place.

The chat service will increase sales not only in the categories of used goods, electronics and real estate, but in other product lines as well, the Economic Times quoted Chulet as saying.
