A problem with Google Photos accidentally caused an 'invisible' data cap
Android Police reports that users were having the same problem: As they tried to upload a large amount of photos, their upload just stopped without any kind of warning flashing up.
A spokesperson for Google confirmed to Business Insider that Google Photos had been experiencing an "upload issue," which has now been fixed.
Google said: "We have since fixed the issue. Users should no longer be experiencing any upload issues."
Google launched the photo sharing service last month at its I/O conference. The new website and app for iOS and Android is supposed to let you upload an unlimited number of photos and videos for free, as long as all video is under 1080p and photos are under 16 megapixels.
The number of photos users were uploading seems to differ between reports, so the problem could have been related to data usage rather than a limit on the number of photos that can be uploaded. Android Police reports that another user found that after paying $1.99 for another 100GB, their photos started uploading again, before they hit another cap. Then, after paying $9.99 for 1TB of storage, the upload started again.
Those who seem to be having problems had tried to uploaded more than 20,000 images, but if the issue is fixed, they shouldn't come across any more problems.
