Daimler, an affiliate of Mercedes-Benz, is in the process of testing the first German semi-autonomous truck. The truck is able to drive itself by employing a series of sensors and a radar system.
In the event of inclement weather or system failure, the truck signals the driver to take over. These trucks may be driving on the autobahn as soon as 2018.
