This home-grown app is among the top 5 grossing dating apps in India.
  • Homegrown app Aisle sees 3 million installs worldwide.
  • It is competing with the likes of Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid and is among the top 5 grossing dating apps in India.
Aisle, an Indian dating club that unites singles offline, has seen over 3 million installs worldwide.

This home-grown app is among the top 5 grossing dating apps in India and is competing with billion dollar American and Chinese companies like Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid and TanTan respectively.

Able Joseph, Founder and CEO of Aisle, took to Twitter to share the company’s progress thus far. He said Aisle is at par with Dunzo’s 2019 revenue and according to Entrackr, Dunzo had reported a total revenue of Rs 3.5 crore in FY 2019.

Bangalore-based Aisle was launched six years ago and has 10 employees. Each personnel has one clear department assigned -- they supervise product, design, development, analytics, marketing, finance, investor relations, content, consumer support, etc.

As low-key as its team strength, Aisle’s social media marketing is minimal marketing at best. It seems to follow a simple strategy -- ‘Let your actions speak more than your words.’ It promotes itself through relatable memes and user testimonials by keeping romance at its center. It hasn’t tied up with a celebrity or an influencer to reach where Dunzo is today.

According to ETTech, the app has seen 20% surge in new users. To survive the current rough waters, it now organises paid online group activities on Zoom with people who are looking for meaningful connections.
