How much money a TikTok creator with one million followers should make from a sponsorship deal depends on their overall engagement which can include views, likes, and comments. But what's a good starting point for a creator to pitch to a brand?

The TikTok star and talent manager Josh Sadowski, who has around 4 million followers and manages nine creators, spoke with Business Insider about the ways he earns money through the app like sponsorships, music promotions, and helping his clients secure brand partnerships.

He said that a creator with one million followers and good engagement should charge between $5,000 and $10,000 for a sponsorship on TikTok.

That number is constantly shifting, however, as the platform matures.

Cosette Rinab, who has over 1.6 million followers, told Business Insider in January that the average rate she charged for a sponsorship on TikTok was between $1,000 and $2,000 per 100,000 views.

What a brand sponsorship on TikTok looks like

Creators can land sponsorships through TikTok's monetization team (which reaches out to creators), by using an influencer-marketing agency, or even by reaching out directly to brands. For an official TikTok campaign, such as a "Hashtag Challenge," TikTok will provide the sponsorship to the creator directly.

There are also some management firms, like Whalar Stars and Amp Studios, that help creators land deals and opportunities.

When negotiating with a brand for a sponsorship on TikTok, creators sometimes offer a package deal, which could include both a TikTok video and an in-feed Instagram post or Instagram Story.

Sadowski has done deals with brands like Chipotle and Bumble for TikTok sponsorships. He said he will often pitch brands directly on sponsorship opportunities and that he'll create a list of TikTok video concepts with a certain brand in mind. Once the brand agrees, he'll send them the video, with the full creative pitch written out.

"A lot of people are afraid of jumping into a contract or not knowing what to say to a brand," he said. "One thing creators don't realize is that they can get a lot more money than what they are getting right now."
