Android Will Have More Than 1 Billion Users In 2014

In the latest report from Gartner, the research company stated the Mobile phone industry will grow at about 5 percent in 2014 (year on year). 2014 will see 1.9 billion units of mobile phones being shipped all over the world and Android is will be the dominant operating system on many of these phones.

Moreover, Ultramobiles, which include tablets, hybrids and clamshells, will be the main driver of growth in the devices market in 2014. They will grow at a staggering rate of 54 percent this year. Tablets will grow at about 47 percent from last year and no surprise there, most of the devices will run the Android operating system.

Gartner has predicted that Android will surpass 1 Billion users and if we look at the rate at which people are buying Android phones and tablets, the figure seems to be pretty much achievable.

On the other side, Gartner is also suggesting in the chart that BlackBerry is in a thick soup and their position is not becoming better in 2014. Windows Phone operating system will grow at a decent rate as well, but other operating systems which are mostly Java driven will go down.
