It seems like Indians will not have to wait for long to get their hands on the newly launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple launched these devices in a media event only a few hours ago. During the presentation, it had also mentioned that these devices will be available in 115 countries by the end of 2014.In a move, that will make Apple lovers in India very happy, the Cupertino-based company has decided to bring the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to India in the first set of countries. As per the Apple India site, Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in India from October 17, 2014. At this stage, we don’t have a clear indication of what the prices for the new iPhones will be but we'll become privy to that in the coming weeks.
We think this is a very strategic move by Apple to push India amongst the first countries to get the iPhone. Most smartphones makers are very bullish about this market. Apple’s arch-rival Samsung has been losing some ground in the market and it will be a good idea to tap into the premium smartphone market before the Note 4 and Xperia Z3 make it to India.

On one hand, there is a big opportunity for Apple to earn a bigger market share in the country through early launch and aggressive buyback scheme, but there is a big challenge too. This time the challenge is from the Motorola's and Xiaomi's of the world that are offering value-for-money offerings to woo the Indian smartphone buyers. Will Apple, through its brand name, positioning, and of course the newly launched devices, be able to grab a bigger slice is something that we will get to know in due course in time.
Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in US starting September 19 and pre-order starts from September 12.
