Reliance Jio vs Bharti Airtel — four charts that showcase how the Indian telecom giants faired in 2022

  • Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have been competing to gain the maximum market share in the Indian telecom industry.
  • Reliance Jio Platforms and Bharti Airtel earned ₹2,12,885 crore cumulatively through telecom operations as well as other sources.
  • Despite higher average revenue per user, Airtel’s annual profit only double of Jio’s quarterly profit in FY2022.
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have been competing against each other to gain the highest market share in the Indian telecom industry - an industry which was shook by Mukesh Ambani’s entry into it in 2016.

The sector went through its share of upheavals - the most recent being the Supreme Court verdict on AGR issue which stressed the financials of Vodafone Idea and Airtel alike. While the latter rode the storm, Vodafone Idea lost market share during the months — leaving a large piece of subscriber share up for grabs.

The next few charts explain how these two telecom majors fared in the fiscal year 2022.
