Finally we can see a silver lining in the dark clouds hovering above Chennai. Flights out of Chennai airport will resume from tomorrow, after being closed since Wednesday night as heavy rains water logged the runway.

"The DGCa has termed it fit and day-time operations will begin from tomorrow morning. We are working resume night-time operations too in a couple of days," a senior civil aviation ministry official told ET.

A notice to airmen (Notam) is being issued soon, the official said.

He added that the night time operations will take time because the equipments need to be checked before night-time operations resume.

The AAI had earlier announced closure of runway till Sunday afternoon but services will resume from tomorrow as water receded after rain stopped.
