Chick-fil-A is testing mac and cheese in three cities starting this week.

The mac and cheese is made with macaroni noodles and a blend of cheeses including cheddar, parmesan, and Romano.

Chick-fil-A experimented with a number of different mac and cheese recipes, including one that featured cauliflower, before settling on this one.

It closely resembles the mac and cheese that is served at Chick-fil-A's 12 Dwarf House restaurants, which feature a different menu than regular Chick-fil-A restaurants, according to Matt Abercrombie, the company's manager of menu development.

We tried Dwarf House's mac and cheese last year and thought it tasted home-made. It could have been a little hotter, though.

The mac and cheese is one of two new sides that Chick-fil-A is testing in Greensboro, North Carolina; Phoenix, Arizona; and San Antonio, Texas until November 18.

The other side is bacon baked beans that are are kettle-cooked and flavored with brown sugar.

Customers can order the sides as part of a new family-style meal menu that Chick-fil-A is testing. The new meals start at $29.99 and include one entree, two sides, and eight mini rolls to serve four people.

Chick-fil-A is monitoring customer feedback from the tests to determine whether to roll out the new meals and sides nationwide, Abercrombie said.
