Craigslist Ad Offers $40,000 A Year To Attend Harvard In Place Of A 'Newly-Accepted Student'

A supposed newly accepted Harvard University student is offering someone $40,000 a year to impersonate them for four years at the Ivy League school, according to a Pittsburgh-area Craigslist ad.

We first read about this unlikely offer at The Atlantic. As the ad reads:

I am looking for someone to attend Harvard University pretending to be me for four years, starting August 2014. I will pay for your tuition, books, housing, transportation, and living expenses and pay $40,000 a year with a $10,000 bonus after graduation. All you have to do is attend all classes, pass all tests, and finish all assigned work, while pretending you are me.

You do not need to worry about being accepted, I have already taken care of that.

The selected impersonator would be a member of Harvard's Class of 2018. The university accepted close to 1,000 students for it's newest class last week, two days before the Craigslist ad was posted.

As the supposed student writes, "You must have either a 4.0 GPA in high school, or a 3.5 or higher GPA from a university to get hired for this."

While the ad is in all likelihood a fake, it is reminiscent of a Craigslist offer in October from a University of North Carolina student who was seeking a body double to sit in on her classes while she traveled. The poster later claimed in an email to Business Insider that the Craigslist ad was a joke.
