Low cost carrier If you are tired of the torture of being waitlisted everytime you try to book train ticket through IRCTC’s website, you can now upgrade to a seat in Spicejet by paying a little extra. As per media reports, Spicejet will provide ‘competitive fares’ for tickets that are being upgraded.
The charges for up gradation will however depend on the season. If it’s lean the charges will be less, whereas for peak season, the upgradation charges might be quite high.
"Passengers on the waiting list with no confirmation can upgrade to an airline seat if they are ready to pay a little extra," chairman and promoter Ajay Singh has told a national daily while speaking on the issue.
This is definitely a win-win situation for both the passengers and the debt ridden airline. Many a times, a flight flies with a few vacant seats. While this will bring some revenue to the airlines, both the railways and airline are yet to reveal much detail in to the deal.
