"Twilight" star Kristen Stewart infused her character, Bella Swan, with a bit of her own style for the final scene at prom.
"The Converse were a last-minute idea from Kristen herself," Wendy Chuck, the costume designer of "Twilight," told Business Insider in a recent interview for the 15th anniversary of the film.
In the 2008 vampire movie Bella wears a black walking boot to her junior prom with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) after James (Cam Gigandet) breaks her right leg during a fight scene.
Chuck told Insider that putting together Bella's prom costume was a bit stressful.
"I don't think I had anything that was really resonating with me up until maybe two weeks before we shot that scene," she recalled.

Chuck said that she found Bella's tiered blue dress in a TJ Maxx or a similar store and made a few adjustments.
The day of filming ended up being so frigid and windy that Chuck realized she needed additional layers on Stewart to keep her warm.
Chuck modified a white cardigan by shortening the length and transforming it into a bolero that looked like a piece of clothing Bella would find in a thrift store.
It paired well with the dress because the two color choices symbolized Bella adopting the same hues as the Cullen family and becoming "part of their blue and white frozen world," Chuck said.
Tights seemed like another logical solution to cover her legs, but it also had to make sense for the character. Chuck knew that Bella wouldn't wear pantyhose so that meant boots, over-the-knee socks, or footless tights, which they ultimately decided on.

Bella, a clumsy teen who wasn't a big fan of dancing or shopping, would never be caught wearing a heeled shoe, let alone on her uninjured left foot after a near-death attack. So, Stewart's black Converse sneaker suggestion felt both practical and in alignment with the character.
"I think that was just in the trailer when I was getting her dressed for the scene, and I said, 'Yeah, fine, works for me,'" Chuck said.
