Even ‘Rising Malawi’ Couldn’t Save Rebel Heart Controversy This woman has spent most part of her 56-year journey in doing things that most people can only dream of. Meet Madonna. The ‘oomph’ woman of American music world, who has had a free run since over three and half decades, right from the time she first appeared on the scene in 1979.

Ever since, she has courted controversy. There are umpteen numbers of stories on Internet, and in the memory of her fans about how many such controversies Madonna triggered off – some made statements, and some died soon after.

The recent one, whether one would deem it a curtain raiser to her new album or a marketing proposition in the times of Internet where word of controversy travels rather quickly or if it was a genuine oversight on part of her ‘fans’ as she claimed – one purpose was particularly served.

The world got to know Madonna can still offend, and when she offends, the world would sit up and take notice of it. You can love her, hate her or be nonchalant about her – you ought to know what she is up to. It’s easy when you are a fan. But, if you aren’t even in the days of most active social media network, the queen bee with Italian origin will ensure you pay the attention whatever is due to her.

The ‘#rebelheart’ controversy wasn’t even one on the first place. She ran cables across her face, and then her fans ran cables across faces of other heroes and prominent figures who had fought for various causes and were still alive in the pages of history. Quite a good mix that was, ensuring every personality got her a share of exclusive following and when she ran into a controversy using their pics (of course, her fans did whatever that went wrong) Madonna quickly took to social network to apologize and calm the frayed nerves down.

So, the ones who missed the controversy ensured that they saw the apology and understood the concept of rebelheart. Whether it was Lady Di, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and the likes, rebelhearts were those who fought for something. In that sense, what did Madonna fight for that she drew parallels between them and herself?

Modesty thy name is Madonna, especially during controversies. This entertainer, born as Madonna Louise Ciccone, the songwriter, the performer and businesswoman, said she hadn’t achieved much in her own life. So, all ye anti-socials who thought she was leveraging on those famous people’s personalities, take note. She wasn’t ANYWHERE closer to doing that. “I would be proud if I could even achieve even a small percent of whatever they have done,” she said in a statement on her FB account.

Madonna’s Rising Malawi, a social service organization that’s aimed at providing education to girl children in African countries, is still to take off in a full form that’s parallel to the objective with which it was formed. Madonna courts controversies on the highway. But her subways are filled with passion and commitment. Lest we forget.
