Facebook Acquires Voice-recognition Startup wit.ai To Expand Its Reach

To extend its reach beyond computers and smartphones, Facebook , the world's largest Internet social network, with 1.3 billion users, has acquired an 18-month-old voice recognition technology firm. The firms software is used in wearable devices and Internet-connected appliances.
On Monday, Facebook announced that it acquired wit.ai, a California-based company, without providing any information about the price of the deal.Wit.ai create voice interface that can easily understand spoken words and text written in "natural language."
However, Facebook is yet to disclose that within which group it will seek technological help from the wit.ai team.
It appears that Facebook, which had earlier acquiredWhatsapp , is now planning to venture into voice-recognition arena. This technology also powers Apple's iOS navigator Siri, Android’s Google Now, and Windows Phone’s Cortana.
