He is connected to all the big stars of Bollywood, is godfather to an entire generation of
This is why, when the news of him becoming a father to twins Yash and Roohi via surrogacy, the entire country was shocked. Happy, but shocked! Happy for one of its favorite directors who had admitted to being lonely and desiring a family, and shocked because no one had any idea that Karan had opted for this procedure, not even his best friends, his colleagues or his staff.
What’s even more shocking is that seven days after the birth of his twins, Johar had hosted a singles-only bash at his house, and guests never even got a whiff that their host had recently become a papa.
Even at Dharma, no one got to know of this happiest change in Karan’s life, who kept his usual self in the office as well. He even shot for his chat show, Koffee With Karan, regularly, while also oversseing the promotions of his upcoming project Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya.

Here is an excerpt from Karan Johar's statement that he shared on his social media platforms:
"I am ecstatic to share with you all the two most wonderful additions to my life, my children and lifelines; Roohi and Yash. In order to arrive at this decision, I have prepared myself mentally, physically, emotionally and logistically to ensure that my children get all the unconditional love, care and attention from me and mine. My work, travels and social commitments would have to take a back seat. I have the most caring and supportive mother who will be an integral part in the up-bringing of her grandchildren and of course, friends who are family. I am eternally grateful to the surrogate who has fulfilled my lifelong dream and provided a loving and nurturing environment to my children before bringing them into this world. She will always remain in my prayers."
