Hyundai fired Zuchowski, the president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, for failing to meet internal sales objectives on Tuesday, Automotive News reported. Employees were informed of the decision on Wednesday afternoon.
Hyundai wrote in a Wednesday statement that Zuchowski was leaving the company and that Flannery will serve as interim president and CEO.
A search for Zuchowski's replacement will begin immediately, Hyundai said.
Hyundai did not return Business Insider's request for comment on whether Zuchowski was fired for failing to meet sales objectives.
