Maserati just recalled all Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans built between 2014 and 2016 for an unintended acceleration-related issue, USA Today reports. About 28,235 cars have reportedly been affected.

Unintended acceleration is a problem where the car will continue to speed up without deliberate input from the driver.

In the case of these cars, Maserati said the problem stems from floor mats coming off their anchors and getting stuck under the gas pedal.

The last major unintended acceleration recall occurred in 2010 with Toyota. The Japanese automaker was forced to pay $1.2 billion after covering up their knowledge of the issue which had caused multiple deaths.

Maserati's problem isn't as severe. The Ghibli and Quattroporte are both equipped with a throttle-override feature that can disable the gas pedal if it appears that the driver is attempting an emergency stop with the brake pedal.

In a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing, Maserati said they've investigated four unintended acceleration incidents so far, and in each of the incidents, the throttle-override system did its job and allowed the driver to stop the car.
