Did you know that the first ever Miss Universe pageant was held way back in 1952? Yep, that long back.It was held on June 28 in California, USA and the Miss India representing the country for the first time was the gorgeous Indrani Rehman. She was all of 22 then.
Rehman was also a trained Indian classical dancer of Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali and Odissi, all of which she also popularised in the West.
We just happened to stumble upon a picture of her in the swimsuit round from the first ever Miss Universe pageant and boy does she rock the vintage look!
The gajra and bindi with the swimsuit is an added bonus of desi swag. We love it!
