What is clear, at least today, is that the Panthers and Patriots are the definitive top dogs in their conferences.

After the Bengals and Broncos both lost on Sunday, the Patriots easily beat the Texans to regain the top-seed in the AFC. Over in the NFC, the Panthers are cruising past everyone that stands before them.

Both the AFC South and NFC East division races remain mysteries, and mediocre ones at that: the Eagles, Redskins and Giants are all tied for first place with 6-7 records, while in the AFC South T.J. Yates and Charlie Whitehurst may face off for the Texans and Colts, respectively, in what could decide the division.

In what's becoming a yearly tradition, severely overmatched wild card teams in both divisions will play on the road against whoever comes out of these lousy divisions. But the wild cards are far from decided, either.
