Badli Vidhan Sabha constituency falls within the precincts of the North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat in Delhi. The term of the present Delhi assembly is ending on 22 February 2020. Hence Delhi Vidhan Sabha will go for polls in February 2020. Badli assembly constituency saw its last general elections for the Delhi assembly in 2015. Badli constituency has a total number of 223235 voters with the figure consisting of 120170 men, 95042 women and 23 third gender voters.

The sitting MLA of Badli Assembly seat is Ajesh Yadav of AAP who won INC candidate Devendra Yadav in the 2015 elections. Devendra Yadav bagged 37419 votes while Ajesh Yadav could claim 72795 votes from the electors of this seat. The score of 72795 votes bagged by the sitting MLA of AAP is the highest ever recorded in this seat by any candidate so far.

Right from 1993, Badli seat remains a general constituency open to all candidates. From 1993 to 2008, Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal representing the BJP held this seat. In all these three elections when he emerged victoriously, the runner up candidates were from INC. Devendra Yadav of INC was the MLA from this constituency for two consecutive terms who remained in office from 2008 to 2015. In 2008 elections, he overtook the BSP candidate and in 2013 elections he defeated the BJP candidate. Devender Yadav lost this seat for the AAP candidate who scored a very high margin over him in 2015 elections.
