Greater Kailash is a state legislative assembly seat situated within the precincts of the New
Delhi parliamentary constituency of Delhi. As the five year ruling period of the AAP sitting on the throne of Delhi assembly will end on 22 February 2020, the election commission of India has announced the general elections in all the assembly constituencies of Delhi in February 2020. Greater Kailash will go for general elections in February 2020 along with the other 69 assembly constituencies of Delhi Vidhan Sabha to select the next set of MLAs who will form the next Vidhan Sabha post elections. Greater Kailash has a total number of 162042 voters consisting of 87320 men, 74712 women and 10 third gender voters. This is a general seat open for contesting by all candidates.
The last assembly elections in Greater Kailash were conducted in 2015. In the said elections, AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj won the elections and became the MLA to represent this seat in the Delhi Assembly. He defeated the BJP candidate Rakesh Kumar Gullaiya. Their vote scores were 57589 and 43006 respectively with a margin of 14583. Saurabh Bharadwaj also won during the 2013 elections and went to the Delhi assembly. In this election, he defeated the BJP candidate Ajay Kumar Malhotra. The vote score they bagged were 43097 and 30005 respectively. In 2008 elections, the winner from this assembly constituency was Vijay Kumar Malhotra of BJP. He scored 42206 votes in this election and defeated the INC candidate Jitender Kumar Kocher of INC who got 30987 votes. They had a difference of 11,219 votes between them.
