Trilokpuri is a famous assembly seat in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. This is part of the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Trilokpuri is a reserved seat meant for the SC candidates to contest. There are a total of 70 assembly constituencies in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. The present ruling term of the AAP that took charge of the Delhi assembly post 2015 elections will end on 22 February 2020. The Delhi assembly will therefore see the assembly polls conducted in February 2020. Trilokpuri will go for general elections along with the other 69 constituencies and this will be the seventh assembly election the constituency will see.

Brahm Pal of INC won this assembly seat in a line for three terms in line in 1993, 1998 and 2003 elections. Hence he remained as the MLA of this seat from 1993 to 2008. In 1993 elections, Brahm Pal scored 17844 votes. In the 1998 elections, he got 22887 votes. His vote score in 2003 was 26469. In all these three elections, the runner up candidates were BJP contestants. In the 1993 election and in 1998 election, the runner up was Ram Charan Gujrati of BJP. In the 2003 election, the runner up was Sunil Kumar of BJP.

In 2008 elections, the winner was Sunil Kumar of BJP who got 30781 votes. The runner up of this election was Anjana of INC who got 30147 votes. In 2013 general elections for the Delhi assembly, the winner was Raju Dhingan who scored 44082 votes. He won from this seat once again in 2015 scoring 74907 votes representing the AAP. BJP candidates Sunil Kumar and Kiran Vaidya were the runner up candidates in these elections.
