Former US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch told Insider she starts her days drinking coffee from a mug that says, "F--- You Putin."

"I'm here to tell you that your coffee in the morning tastes so much better in that mug," she said during a wide-ranging interview, adding that she also bulk-ordered the mugs.

Yovanovitch has been making the media rounds after publishing her book, "Lessons From the Edge," about her experiences as an ambassador and getting fired by former President Donald Trump and testifying in his first impeachment inquiry.

But mugs aren't the only Putin-related totems that Yovanovitch has.

She recently told the late-night host Stephen Colbert that she also bulk-ordered bracelets that say "F--- You Putin" and has given them out as gifts to visitors, including members of Congress.

Yovanovitch's remarks drew laughter and applause from the audience, and Yovanovitch then gave Colbert a bracelet, which he said was "lovely."

"I'll take it," he added, putting the bracelet on and laughing.

Asked whether she ever got any notable reactions, Yovanovitch told Insider that she didn't want to get into specifics.

"Everybody kind of looks at it and gasps and laughs," she said. "I think they're just surprised because I'm, you know, a pretty staid diplomat. They certainly wouldn't expect me to give them a gift like that."
