  • A bizarre exchange unfolded on Tuesday morning at the end of a Fox News interview with President Donald Trump.
  • "Yeah, we're gonna do it every week," Trump said on the phone. "Every Monday, I think they said, and if we can't do it on a Monday, we'll do it on a Tuesday, like we did today."
  • But "Fox & Friends" host Steve Doocy poured cold water on the notion on behalf of the network.
  • "You may want to do it every week, but Fox is not committed to that," Doocy said. "We're going to take it on a case-by-case basis."
  • Trump became a mainstay on "Fox & Friends" before running for president, and his lengthy call-ins have become a staple of his first term in the White House.

While wrapping up yet another call-in from President Donald Trump, "Fox & Friends" host Steve Doocy on Tuesday poured cold water on the president's assertion that he will be dialing up the morning show "once a week, like the old days."

"You may want to do it every week, but Fox is not committed to that," Doocy said. "We're going to take it on a case-by-case basis."

"Fox & Friends" has been one of Trump's preferred outlets during his first term, and he became a regular on the program ahead of running for president.

On the Tuesday call, Trump claimed there was some sort of agreement in place for him to be interviewed live "every Monday" going into the election, leading Doocy to pump the brakes on behalf of Fox News.

"Yeah, we're gonna do it every week," Trump said. "Every Monday, I think they said, and if we can't do it on a Monday, we'll do it on a Tuesday, like we did today."

After Doocy gave his disclaimer, he offered Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden equal time.

"And Joe Biden, as well, is always welcome to join us for 47 minutes," Doocy said, "like we just did with the president."
